Thrill-seekers will get the chance to abseil from the tower of historic St Mary’s Parish Church in Watford town centre this summer in order to raise cash for a children’s charity.

Kidz Come 1st will be holding its second charity abseil at the church from 9am on Saturday, August 30.

Abseilers will be encouraged to wear fancy dress and there will be prizes for the best outfits.

Last year a team from McDonald’s fast food restaurant through down the gauntlet to other businesses in the town by organising a team of 10 for the event which raised hundreds of pounds for the charity, which pays for equipment and medical procedures for children throughout the country who are suffering from life-limiting conditions.

Watford Observer:

Cash raised during the abseil will go towards the charity’s fund for holiday homes to offer respite care for the sick children and their families.

Many of the children the charity has helped live in the Hertfordshire area and will be presents to watch the abseil and enjoy an afternoon buffet and entertainment in the church.

To sign up for the event, or register an interest, call Yasmin on 07957 970790 or email kidzcome1st65@yahoo.co.uk.

Volunteers need to pay a £25 deposit to secure their jump when registering, though everyone taking part in the abseil is asked to raise a minimum of £200 for the charity.
