Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was robbed in Watford.

The offence took place between 1.30am and 4am in Euston Avenue on January 1, when a man in his 70s was approached from behind by offenders who pushed him to the floor and took cash and his mobile phone.

The victim sustained injuries to his thumb and face.

The offenders are described as two white males, who were possibly of Eastern European appearance. One is described as being around 6ft tall, of a large/heavy build with short blonde hair.

Detective Constable Julie Vint, investigating, said: "This was the early hours of News Years Day and I am confident there will have been a number of people who were out and about who may have seen what happened or who saw two males acting suspiciously in the area.

"If you have any information which would assist the investigation please contact me."
