Volunteers who joined the families of Capt Tom Sawyer, Cpl Chris Harrison and Pte Tom Lake on the Honour Dog Walk in November 2013, gathered at the Royal British Legion in Croxley Green to hand over funds raised in their memory.

All three soldiers were killed in action in Afghanistan and their parents, Sue and Martyn Sawyer, Gill and Martin Harrison and Carol Lake, having met through their losses, decided that as their sons all had a love of dogs, an annual fundraising dog walk in their memory would be a fitting tribute.

This year’s walk attracted more than 30 dogs and 50 owners.

This was the third Annual Honour Dog Walk and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal benefited to the tune of £1,632.

The three families thanked all those who joined the walk and helped to make it such a success.

Capt Sawyer’s father, Martyn said: "While it is brilliant to raise so much for such a good cause, the overriding purpose of the annual event is to honour and remember three local lads who gave their lives for their country."

The next Honour Dog Walk will take place on the Sunday prior to Remembrance Sunday.
