Women and girls aged 14 to 25 are being offered a free three month gym membership if they have not exercised for a year or more.

Unfit ladies living in Bushey and Radlett are being offered the membership as part of a new project undertaken by Hertsmere Leisure in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council.

During the three months, participants must commit to exercise three times a week for at least 30 minutes and agree to have their body statistics measured when they start and at regular intervals.

The information is being gathered as part of a project in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council which has received £162,750 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund to help women and girls get fit.

A limited number of free memberships are available but those who apply are successful will get a free three month health and fitness membership or swimming membership at the Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, Bushey Country Club, Furzefield Centre or The Venue in Borehamwood.

Kirsty Williams, Hertsmere Leisure’s partnership manager, said: "We will have one-to-one consultations with participants, provide a personal programme which we will review regularly with them, and track their progress over the three months.

"This is a great opportunity for women and girls aged 14 to 25 who are thinking of taking up exercise to get more active, more often."
