The Mayor of Dacorum will be the first person to have her picture taken with the new Game of Thrones-inspired village sign this month.

Dacorum Borough Council and Kings Langley Parish Council are working with HBO Home Entertainment to change the village name to "Kings Landing" for one week to mark the DVD release of the third season.

Kings Landing is the capital of the fictional kingdom in the historical fantasy HBO series.

The change will come into effect on February 11 when the mayor, Councillor Penny Hearn, will unveil the sign, and everything will go back to normal on February 23.

Villagers and Game of Thrones fans from all over the world are being invited to come and snap a photo with the sign and be in with the chance of winning some Game of Thrones merchandise.

Councillor Alan Anderson, who has been supporting the re-naming, said: "Kings Langley was involved in a real dynastic struggle of the Plantagenet era and this will be an interesting case of history imitating fiction."
