A "determined" Rickmansworth woman said it would be "a dream come true" if she were named Miss Hertfordshire 2014.

Charlotte White, of Ebury Road, will be battling for the Miss Hertfordshire 2014 crown at the beauty pageant finale on Sunday, April 13.

The 22-year-old has until then to raise as much money for the pageant’s nominated charity, Beauty With a Purpose.

Miss White, who works on a design team for a Borehamwood construction company, has entered the competition twice before, coming in third place in 2009 and 2013.

Miss White is avid that the crown will be hers this year as she will be entering competition day "with fight" in her belly.

She said: "I’m so determined to win this year, I want it so bad and I will be going into the competition with a bit of fight. To win would just be a dream come true."

The aspiring beauty queen used to be a pupil at The Russell School, in Brushwood Drive, before moving on to study at St Clement Danes School, in Chenies Road.

When asked why she entered the pageant, Miss White said: "I don’t drink and I don’t smoke so I thought I would be a good role model for younger girls.

"People think that in beauty pageants you’re just there to look nice on stage but there is quite a lot more work that goes into it."

Miss White said that she believes the reason why she did not win in previous years was because she did not raise as much money as other contestants.

She said: "I know where I went wrong and I’m very determined to win it this year. There can only be one winner.

"I realise that last year I just wasn’t bringing in as much money as the other girls were. Some raised thousands of pounds and I’m turned up with about £250. It just wasn’t enough."

To overcome that this year, Miss White has organised a number of fundraising activities to bring in money for Beauty With a Purpose, the proceeds of which will go towards helping disadvantaged children around the world.

Her fundraising activities are set to include a sponsored sky dive, a pub quiz and a charity disco.

This is the competition’s ten-year anniversary.

A total of 24 girls are set to take part in this year’s Miss Hertfordshire 2014, with the winner going through to compete in Miss England, the queen of which will then go on to Miss World.

Winner of Miss Hertfordshire 2012, Kirsty Heslewood, was crowned Miss England 2013.
