A community orchard is going to be created in a piece of allocated land adjacent to the Primrose Hill allotments in Kings Langley.

Abbots Langley Parish Council have allowed the land to be used for the community project and have provided 32 fruit trees.

Abbots in Transition Orchard Group, along with other locals, planted the first batch of trees on Saturday, February 1 and the second batch is due to be planted on Saturday, February 8.

This second planting session will be an informal event where people can turn up and plant a fruit tree themselves.

Preparations will begin at 8.30am and planting will run throughout the morning expecting to finish by midday.

Participants will need to bring their own gardening gloves, a spade and sensible footwear, and parents and guardians must be responsible for their children.
