Homes and a school have been flooded in Rickmansworth following heavy rain last night.

St Mary's C Of E Primary School’s playground was affected as water overwhelmed the area around Stockers Farm Road and Harefield Road.

Watford Observer:

Harefield Road, Rickmansworth this morning.

Mandy Townsend, who lives near Stockers Farm Road, said: “People tried to get to the school but the school is flooded. It’s chaotic down here.

“There are three houses down here and it’s like there’s a river running through their property.”

Residents reported water flowing into the area off fields near Woodcock Hill Cemetery.

Three River District Council said a localised flooding alert had been issued for the area and advised residents that sandbags could be purchased from DIY stores.
