How can the Army justify a recruitment drive when there are so many soldiers currently going through redundancy. What was once a solid career is no longer. There are troops coming home from Afghanistan facing their redundancy which is appalling in its own right. This taking place just rubs salt into the wounds.

Thats not the case No 12 fan, its a lot of young soldiers also. They are made redundant by rank and it appears that the junior ranks including privates or equivalents are taking the brunt but its probably proportionate across the rank structure and as such age range and time served.

Keep the years of service low and the same goes for pension entitlement.

To be fair the armed forces are just doing as they are told (by the government) by reducing numbers, the fact they are doing that doesnt mean that they dont need new recruits as they are also going to be losing people through natural turn over.

The only question I would ask is are those being made redundant being offered the chance to fill in where there is a shortfall elsewhere?
