Wellington boots, waterproofs and the odd dinghy helped residents cope with the severe flooding that affected parts of south west Hertfordshire at the weekend.

Roads and homes were affected by the deluge as rivers and drains became overwhelmed by heavy rainfall last week.

In Valley Walk, Croxley, residents faced a nervous wait was water flooded into their gardens and headed towards their properties.

Firefighters spend most of the weekend pumping water out of Park Road, Rickmansworth, which became inundated on Friday, and the road did not reopen until Yesterday.

Elsewhere in Three Rivers, residents managed to brave the flooding to take a weekend amble around a waterlogged aquadrome.

In Watford, Lower High Street and Water Lane looked more like ponds and water seeped into nearby Tesco Extra’s car park.
