Roads in south west Hertfordshire are still blocked by flood water after another day’s rain has fallen on already sodden land.

Only one lane in Lower High Street, Watford, is open as water is being pumped away.

In Chorleywood, Green Street is closed and in Maple Cross there is a blockage in Coppermill Lane.

Hope the government recognises that some businesses and households are now faced with lost income and extra clean up costs at a time when they have to do alot of belt tightening. This crisis may well force some to close.

Questions need to be asked whether proactive steps rather than reactive efforts could have limited the damage. Rivers are like pipes and they need to have the capacity to alter their flow and flush.
