Hertfordshire Police are holding an event to encourage people to join Neighbourhood Watch.

Chief Inspector for Watford, Dave Wheatley, said the scheme helps prevent crime and creates strong communities who look out for vulnerable neighbours.

He added: "Neighbourhood Watch has seen a real modernisation in recent years, with technology aiding the flow of information amongst members.

"We know that where there are active Neighbourhood Watches there is less crime, and having spoken to a prolific burglar, they have said that they will actively avoid committing crime in these areas."

The recruitment drive will be held in the Community Room in Asda, St Albans Road, on Monday February 24, at 7.45pm.
