Home cooks are being encouraged to don their aprons and fire up their ovens to join the Peace Hospice Care Bake Off.

To take part they should go to work in the kitchen and then bring their pies, pastries, bread and fruit cakes to Watford’s intu shopping centre on Sunday, February 23, where a team of judges will assess the finest creations.

The top four from each category will go forward to the heats where they will compete to become the first Grand Hospice Bake Off Champion.

Gill Crowson, Community Fundraising Manager, said: "This is the first Bake Off Peace Hospice Care has organised and I can't wait to see the delicious goodies heading our way.

"All the money raised will go towards our vital services so this is an ideal opportunity to turn your dough into dough for the hospice."

She added: "It only costs £5 for each entry which will enable our chef to provide a nutritious and appetising three course meal for a patient."
