A Bushey man, dying from Motor Neurone Disease (MND), has managed to make it to White Hart Lane for one last match, thanks to "sheer courage, determination, and love of Spurs".

Glenn Phillips was diagnosed with MND in 2011 and has been unable to watch his favourite team play since September last year.

After an appeal for a seat in a box was published in the Watford Observer, email and phone offers poured into the office, allowing Mr Phillips to see his team beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in January.

He was unsure whether he would make it to another match but was able to make the journey to Tottenham on Sunday to see them beat Everton 1-0.

The fixture was the first match Mr Phillips attended as a young man in 1973.

Julia Childs from Peace Hospice Care was instrumental in getting Mr Phillips to White Hart Lane.

She said: "It was touch and go whether he would get to the match. He made it through sheer courage, determination, and love of Spurs."

MND affects neurones in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of mobility, difficultly with speech, swallowing and breathing.

Roughly 50 per cent of people with the condition die within 14 months of diagnosis and there is no known cure.
