A fire that destroyed a mobile home in Croxley Green is being probed by fire investigators this morning.

Fire crews from Rickmansworth and Watford attended the blaze in Hazelwood Road at around 6.30pm last night.

Crew Commander David Tams, from Rickmansworth Fire Station, said when his firefighters reached the property the mobile home at the bottom of the garden was well-ablaze.

He said the flames were threatening and also to spread to a nearby workshop.

Mr Tams said: "It was completely engulfed and threatening the workshop next to it. There was a danger of it spreading. We had two (firefighters with) breathing apparatus and hose reels deal with it."

He added that when the fire was extinguished there was some fire damage to the outside of the workshop and one of its windows had been smashed by the heat coming from the blaze.

Hertfordshire Constabulary was later alerted to the fire as it was deemed to be suspicious.
