Watford couple, David and Katheryn Read, crowned Radlett Slimming World Couple of the Year

Watford Observer: Watford couple crowned slimmers of the year Watford couple crowned slimmers of the year

A Watford couple have kicked off their new-year diet by being named "slimmers of the year" at their local weight-loss club.

David and Katheryn Read from Watford were voted Radlett Slimming World Couple of the Year after losing two stone and one pound between them in just six weeks.

Mr Read, 32, works at a builder’s merchant and Mrs Read, 30, is a recruitment advisor and returned to work this week after 12 months maternity leave.

Their inspiration for joining a weight loss group was the birth of their baby boy, Dylan. Mrs Read said: "We both love our food and in particular, a good curry.

"Our dreams for the future are to build a beautiful little family by adding a little brother or sister for Dylan and live a healthy and fitter, slimmer life".

Mrs Read said her ambition for the future is to become a swimming teacher and Mr Read is looking to become a branch manager in the very near future.

In no way shape of form knocking this couple, goodness knows I could lose a few pounds myself but make no effort to do so. But its only February so I am scratching my head as to why they are announcing the slimmers of the year already?

I was thinking it was maybe for their achievements the past 12 months but the article gives the impression its more to do with their losses the past six weeks so.... Its like those car manufacturers that announce their product is car/van of the year around this time too. Isnt that rather a big assumption that no one will better the achievement for the next 10 months?

Anyway, just being pedantic. Well done to this couple, I wish you all the best for your futures and in gaining your goals

Tend to agree with you, Tony. Just a rather silly advertisement for somebody, though the story doesn't say who. I fear the WO is becoming like so many local newspapers in the Internet age and is simply republishing handouts produced by - who knows? This is the way of the world now, it seems, and local papers have stopped covering REAL news.
