A man spotted driving a van "naked and erratically" led police on a chase up the M1 motorway near Watford.

The police were called to the M1 near to junction five by motorists concerned about the way the man was driving.

A total of six cars and the police helicopter chased the man up the motorway and onto the A414, before he stopped at the junction with London Road in St Albans.

An eyewitness described seeing a man wearing a pair of boxer shorts handcuffed by the side of the road.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of taking the vehicle without the owner’s consent and dangerous driving.

There were no injuries or crashes with other vehicles.

Maybe the police supplied the shorts after the arrest?

They came past me yesterday afternoon and there was actually 2 Police Helicopters involved which does seem a bit excessive, how much does it cost to keep one in the air for something like this, different if they were chasing a Bank Robber or Killer!

Well it was a nude driver hence the large police presence maybe he had parked on a yellow line.
