Abbots Langley care home, Tanners, management overhaul following inspection failings
The "disappointing" report which saw an Abbots Langley care home fail five out of six care quality commission (CQC) assessment areas has led to new management being installed, according to the chief executive of the trust which oversees it.
Tanners, in Stewart Close, was told that action was needed after it did not meet the standards of care in key areas such as staffing, respecting and involving those at the home and safeguarding people from abuse.
Tanners was inspected on December 3 and 4 last year due to concerns raised that "one of more of the essential standards of quality and safety was not being met".
In a report by the CQC, which was published on January 17, it was revealed that the care home, which looked after five people at the time of the unannounced inspection, was not up to scratch.
Tanners’ registered provider is Life Opportunities Trust.
Ralph Verlander, the trust’s chief executive, said: "The CQC report on Tanners in December was indeed disappointing.
"However, we have installed a new management team at the Home, and by the first week of January had already met the requirements set by CQC.
"Life Opportunities Trust is confident that all actions will be fully completed by the time of the next CQC visit, and that the standards of support at Tanners will be returned to the level we expect."
The home is designed to provide accommodation and personal care for up to seven people with learning and/ or physical disabilities.
