Radlett Girl guiding joined ten million Girl Guides across 145 countries to celebrate Thinking Day last week.

On Sunday, February 23 almost 60 girls and their leaders met at Woodland Lodge for a District Activity Day with a special focus on the environment. During the past half term the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section was busy building nesting boxes for bats and a variety of birds, bird tables and feeders, bird baths, bug hotels and ladybird nests to put around the woodland grounds surrounding the guide headquarters in Scrubbits Park Road.

As part of the District Thinking Day celebration, the guides enjoyed an environmental activity day with nature trails and wind and water activities. The older girls were also involved in community litter-picking which included Scrubbits Park Wood.

Over the last four months Radlett District Girlguiding has been working hard to regenerate the woodland around Guide Hut.

Watford Observer:

With help from the St Albans Probation Trust team and grants from Hertsmere Borough Council and Radlett Horticultural Society they have begun work on transforming an overgrown piece of land into an environmental activity area and natural woodland habitat.
