An Abbots Langley football club has unveiled a brand new look, thanks to a donation from the Dulux Let’s Colour Project and volunteers from Watford Community Housing Trust.

Evergreen Football Club, based on Southway, has been a part of the local community since 1970 and welcomes players from across the community to play in its various squads, which include both boys and girls teams, as well as a wheelchair football side.

The staff at Watford Community Housing Trust were challenged to complete six hours of volunteer work in their local community to celebrate the organisation’s sixth birthday, and the team turned to Evergreen FC.

The volunteers transformed the club’s changing rooms, using paint in the club colours of green and white, donated by Dulux Decorator Centres in Watford.

The paint donation was made as part of the Let’s Colour mission, after Watford Community Housing Trust’s chief executive Tina Barnard nominated the project online.

Ms Barnard said: "We were looking for a worthy cause to support in our local area and we decided as a team to help Evergreen FC. The club’s been a part of our community for more than 40 years and we felt we owed it to the players to spruce up their changing rooms."

Chairman of Evergreen FC, Mark Ward, added: "On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank the volunteers for all their hard work and the team at Dulux Let’s Colour for donating the paint - the makeover wouldn’t have happened without them."
