Three new Police Community Support Officers have started on the beat in Watford.
PCSO Kayleigh Thorn is covering the area of Watford Fields, after working in the Force Communications Room for four years taking 999 calls. Since starting, she has been involved in patrolling her area as well as being involved in events such as the community safety day held at West Herts College in January.
She said: "I love the job and thoroughly enjoy speaking to people, which is what this role is about."
PCSO Liam Hanrahan, who left a career in recruitment, is covering the area of Leggatts. Since joining, he’s been involved in carrying out a drugs warrant on his beat, and knocked on more than 800 doors.
He said: "I would really like to increase the number of Neighbourhood Watch members. It really encourages community spirit and can help to reduce crime thanks to regular communication with the local PCSO."
PCSO Michael McDermott is covering the area of Stanborough.
He said: "In this role, every day is different and that’s why I wanted to join. I’ve been working closely with PCSO Linda Davey who has a lot of experience as a PCSO. She’s been showing me the ropes and helping me engage with the Stanborough community.
"There’s lots of good work being done in Stanborough to tackle anti-social behaviour and I’m looking forward to helping to reduce it further, as well as getting to know the residents."
