Clarke Carlisle is to join Watford's arch rivals Luton Town on a month's loan.
The defender, signed from Queens Park Rangers for £100,000 in 2005, has only recently returned to Reserve team action following ten months out with a thigh problem, and Aidy Boothroyd believes a month at Kenilworth Road will do wonders for a player who features prominently in his plans.
"I'm sure people will say 'why are you helping Luton out, they are the worst team you could want to help out' but it's local which means we can keep a close eye on him," explained Boothroyd. "I want him to get some games and I can't guarantee him games here at the moment."

NOTE: Clarke Carlisle signed for Burnley for £200,000 five months later. He was quoted as saying at the time that he decided to leave as he wasn't content to sit on the bench.
