Parents who were hoping to send their children to a free school in Radlett are being invited to join an action group, after the opening was delayed.
Harperbury Parents Action Group has been set up to try and ensure pupils can start the school in September.
Harperbury Free School was due to move into the Postgraduate Centre at the former Harperbury Hospital in Harpers Lane, in Radlett, while a permanent site was being prepared.
A permanent site for the free school in Harperbury Hospital was identified 18 months ago.
However, the Department for Education is still negotiating with its owners the Department of Health to secure it and under a new rule introduced by School’s Minister Lord Nash, the school cannot open the temporary site until the permanent one has been secured.
This means the school’s opening will now be delayed until 2015.
The action group has the support of MPs Anne Main and James Clappison, who met with Michael Gove, and were promised he will personally intervene to help decide the future of the school.
