Police investigating a theft from a Maple Cross store have released an image of a woman they would like to speak to.

The theft took place at 12.30pm on Thursday, August 22 at McColl’s Newsagents, in Chalfont Road.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the criminal went to the cigarette counter, asked for three packets of cigarettes and then distracted the staff member at the till. This allowed the thief to hide the cigarettes on their person before they left the store without paying for the items.

Police would like to speak to the woman pictured as she may have witnessed the theft or have information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone who recognises the woman can contact Hertfordshire Constabulary 101, citing crime reference C2/13/1626. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
