The government’s Skills and Enterprise Minister Matthew Hancock will be the keynote speaker at a National Apprenticeship Week event at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter at Leavesden tomorrow.

With research showing that almost half of businesses in the East of England are planning to take on apprentices in the next five years, the Hertfordshire Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network, Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and National Apprenticeship Service have joined forces to invite more than 100 local employers to find out more about apprenticeships.

In the inspiring setting of the film studio tour, the employers will hear first-hand about the value of apprenticeships from businesses and apprentices already reaping the benefits.

Matthew Hancock will also unveil the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) apprenticeship strategy which sets out a continued commitment to creating opportunities for the county’s school leavers.

Last year alone, 7,000 young people enrolled in apprenticeships in Hertfordshire; it is hoped the new strategy will encourage even more employers to take on apprentices.

The new apprenticeship strategy makes up part of The LEP’s wider strategic economic plan which commits £30m to closing the skills gap in county.
