A Chorleywood pub has donated hundreds of pounds to a charity that provides support to families in Watford and Three Rivers.

Jeff Hall and Rhonda Oakley, who run The Rose and Crown, in Common Road, presented a cheque for £649 to Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers after holding a quiz night on Sunday, March 2.

The money will go towards providing those families the charity supports with a trip to Gulliver’s World, in Warrington, in August.

Customers of the pub have also been donating their loose change in a large bottle jar that has been left on the bar over the past year.

Jane Greaney, the charity’s community fundraiser, said: "The annual trip means so much to the families we support, especially during the summer holidays as some of the children never experience a holiday, and we are so thankful to all who supported the fundraising effort of The Rose and Crown in Chorleywood.

"Those interested in fundraising for Home-Start can contact Ms Greaney on 019213 248010.
