A man was stabbed multiple times during robbery in West Watford last night by an attacker wearing a balaclava.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said the victim, a 25-year-old man, was approached from behind in Hagden Lane, near to Cherrydale, at around 11.30pm.

He was told to turn out his pockets and had his mobile phone taken before being stabbed a number of times.

The attacker then ran off towards Wiggenhall Road.

The suspect is described as a white male of slim build who was approximately six feet tall. He was wearing a dark green hooded top, denim jeans which had white paint on them and a black balaclava.

Detective Constable Andrea Warren is investigating and said: "This was a totally unprovoked assault but thankfully the victim is not seriously injured and will make a full recovery.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or saw anyone acting suspiciously before or after this time to contact me with information."
