Taxi prices have risen in Dacorum after councillors agreed a change to the maximum amount drivers can charge.
Local taxi drivers requested the fare increase to help cover rising running costs, such as fuel, insurance and vehicle costs.
Dacorum Borough Council carried out public consultation last year before agreeing to the first changes since 2011.
Daytime taxi fares have increased by 3p per eighth of a mile after the first quarter of a mile. This means that the fare for a typical two mile journey in daytime hours will increase by 42p to £6.30, or 7.3 per cent.
Night time, Sunday and holiday rates have also increased. Starting fares remain unchanged at £2.80, or £4.20 after 11pm or on Sundays.
It is a criminal offence for a taxi driver to charge more than the maximum fare set by the council for a journey within Dacorum.
