Rickmansworth residents will no longer have to wade through sewage after Thames Water engineers fixed the leak yesterday.
Park Road, leading to High Street, was covered in sewage water yesterday after one of the wastewater pipes became blocked.
Sarah Sharpe, spokesman for Thames Water, said that heavy rainfall had caused the pipe to overflow onto the street.
She said: "Our engineers visited Park Road on Tuesday evening after we received reports of sewer flooding in the road.
"We found that a blockage in our pipe had led to wastewater, heavily diluted with rainwater, flooding up onto the road. This is now fixed and we’re really sorry to people affected."
