A dozen pupils from an academy in Bushey recently took part in the local heat of the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial competition.

The pupils from year eight and nine at Bushey Meads travelled to Tottenham Magistrates Court on March1.

The competition is run by the Citizenship Foundation and it is designed to improve legal education within schools, as well as promoting public speaking and team working skills among our young people.

The pupils had been rehearsing for just over a month, after school and during occasional lunch sessions.

The school won the round and will now be taking part in the regional heat which will take place in May.
