A series of free vehicle crime prevention events are being held across Watford next month.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is holding the events at car dealerships every Saturday in April, from 10am to 5pm, unless otherwise stated, in an effort to tackle car crime.

Drivers will be able to have free tamper-proof number plate screws fitted to their vehicles.

Advice on vehicle security will also be available from members of the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Neighbourhood Team Sergeant, Clare Ramirez, said: "Recently Watford has been experiencing a higher than normal amount of thefts of number plates. We’re dedicated to reducing this type of crime and these events are just one of the ways we’re doing this.

"Theft of your car number plates can be very inconvenient to the victim, so we’re urging people to come along and spend a few minutes getting their plates secured to their vehicle. We’ll also be providing crime prevention advice about how to keep your vehicle secure."
