Staff from Barclay’s Bank swapped their calculators and smart office dress for wellies and spades at the weekend to tidy up the community garden at Northwick Day Centre in Northwick Road, South Oxhey.
Staff from branches in South Oxhey, Northwood and Bushey united to form a work party to undertake the work. Volunteer gardeners were Bob McAngus, Vince Muzio, Mark Brooks, Warren Merry, Chris Simcox, Lawrence Neal, Gary Holloway, James Gremo, Claire Sweeney, Wendy Jones and Paige Bunning.
Northwood branch manager Emma Robertson said: "It was a fantastic turn out and one which has made a massive impact to us in being able to improve our services we deliver."
The day’s activities were financed by a raffle which raise £251 and gave customers of the branches involved the chance to win tickets to Vuw Cinema, Hollywood Bowl and Watford FC while other prizes were donated by M&H Kershim Butchers, Sunnyboys Café and Waites Grocers.
The day was also supported by Barns Fencing Carpenders Park Garden centre .
