Members of the Herts Children's Crohn's & Colitis Support Trust (HCCCST) presented the charity's final cheque for £5,552.72 to the paediatric outpatients department at Watford General Hospital on Friday.
Co-founder of the charity Deena Niren said that since the formation in 2002, HCCCST has raised more than £150,000 for the hospital's Paediatric Gastroenterology Department.
Not only had the charity bought the very latest equipment for the department, but it was also there to support family and friends of the young patients.
She said: "Raising awareness and fundraising for bowel disease is never easy, and those suffering are very reticent to talk about their issues, which is understandable.
"But unless awareness is heightened they will continue to be wrongly diagnosed and have to wait longer than necessary for treatment. Just because the symptoms are not always visible, it does not mean the disease has gone away.
"There is no cure, and symptoms can be life-changing as well as life-threatening."
Deena founded the charity with paediatric gastroenterologist Dr Muftah Eltumi but it has been wound-up following his retirement from Watford General Hospital.
