Two police officers have been taken to hospital after their car crashed in St Albans Road.

The police car crashed just before 4pm at the junction of Leavesden Road as officers were travelling to an immediate response.

A CCTV camera outside the Prince George pub captured the moment the crash occurred.

Part of the main road was blocked following the crash, which involved a police car and a silver Mercedes Benz. The road has now been cleared.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

Giles Cooper, spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary, said: “They (the police officers) have got slight injuries and the full extent is not known. The other driver was not injured.”

The job that the officers were on their way to was reallocated and the crash will be investigated.
