Volunteers gathered in Oxhey Woods to help tackle the invasive rhododendron growing in the area.
More than 30 people from the Countryside Management Service, the Oxhey Wood Conservation Volunteers, Network Rail employees and workers from Siemens met last Wednesday.
Rhododendron is a non-native plant which was first introduced to the UK in the 18th century.
It produces huge numbers of seeds and, if left unmanaged, can dominate large areas, pushing out native vegetation and wildlife by forming impenetrable banks.
Hertfordshire County Council's Countryside Management Service joined forces with the Oxhey Woods Conservation Volunteers to put in place an experienced team of people to help control the spread of the troublesome plant.
