Staff and pupils at a primary school in Bushey have raised over £1,000 for Sports Relief.

The pupils from Hertsmere Jewish Primary School all wore red during their PE lessons and ran a mile lap of the school grounds accompanied by their teacher.

At the end of the week all the staff and children came to school on Watling Street wearing red and it was the teachers turn to complete a final mile each, taking the total to over 500 miles.

A total of £1,261.02 was raised and the cheque was presented in assembly before being sent to Sports Relief.

Deputy Head Teacher, Karen Cohen, said: "We are really proud of the children and staff and the amount of money that has been raised.  It was a privilege to take part in something that helped to raise money for such an important cause."
