A photograph album belonging to a famous artist who lived in Bushey is now on show at a museum.

Bushey Museum acquired a 1902 photograph album belonging to Sir Hubert Herkomer ten years ago but because of its size and condition it has not until now been put on display.

Now, as part of the Museum’s commemoration of Herkomer’s centenary, the album, together with enlargements of the photos, is on display in the Jubilee Room.

The album records a visit by Herkomer, his wife Margaret and their son Lawrence to Waal in Bavaria where Herkomer was born.

Herkomer was a painter and also a pioneering film-director and composter who lived in Bushey.

The album also includes photos of a small sculpture which the museum would like to know more about.

The exhibition will run until June 29.
