Hundreds of people attended the annual Peace Hospice Care memorial service, Time to Remember, which was held at St Luke's Church, Langley Way, Watford on Sunday.

The church was filled with relatives and friends of those who had benefited from Peace Hospice Care in the last days of their life.

With a focus on spring, light and new life, the service included poems and prayers and the reading out of 130 names of loved ones followed by the lighting of candles and a time of quiet reflection while Charlie Smith sang the Leann Rimes song, Please Remember.

Following the service, tea and cake was  provided by the parishioners of St Luke's.

Peace Hospice Care Spiritual Care Coordinator, Lynn Bassett  said those who attended found the service "peaceful and comforting", and that  it was good to be able to take time out to remember in this way.

She said: "We remember our loved ones always, we are reminded of them constantly in the everyday happenings of our lives, but when we come together to be still and re-collect it can help us to more deeply integrate our memories into our new lives and find a way to go on."
