Sarratt Post Office has received the stamp of approval from the Countryside Alliance as it is named the best village shop and post office in the East of England.

The store was named champion of the village shop and post office category and will progress to the grand final along with nine other rural businesses.

The 2013 Countryside Alliance Awards, often dubbed the Rural Oscars, is a celebration of rural produce, skills, enterprise and heritage through small businesses.

The winner will be announced at a reception due to be held at the House of Lords on Wednesday, April 30.
