Police are not taking any action against a Watford mayoral candidate after investigating allegations made against him.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said Labour councillor Jagtar Singh Dhindsa had “no criminal case to answer” after reviewing evidence forwarded by Watford Council.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Specialist officers within the Economic Crime Unit have examined all the evidence in relation to the referral made by Watford Council and advised there is no criminal case to answer.

“The findings have revealed some matters which the council has been advised to deal with directly. The case has now been closed.”
