Anti-social behaviour across Watford has fallen for the fifth year running according to official figures.

Across the borough, recorded incidents of anti-social behaviour fell by 24.6 per cent between April 2013 and March 2014 - 904 fewer incidents than the previous 12 months.

The figures come after dedicated patrols in hot spot areas and during peak times including schools holidays have been conducted by the safer neighbourhood teams and special constables.

Another multi-agency specialist operation, Operation Panther, has also helped to reduce calls. The operation aims to identify those responsible for anti-social behaviour and put in place a long term plan, with parents and young offenders, to try to prevent them from engaging in further incidents.

Watford Chief Inspector, Dave Wheatley, said: "Anti-social behaviour can negatively affect people’s quality of life and it is important that we take a partnership approach and draw on all our expertise and resources to tackle it.

"Lots of great work has taken place over the past twelve months and we’re seeing the benefits of this approach, with calls about anti-social behaviour down across the borough. My teams will continue to build on this positive work in the coming year."
