A family run indoor play centre in Bushey that was has been closed since February due to floods has reopened following eight weeks of clearing out, drying and refurbishment.

Parents Paradise on Greatham Road Industrial Estate was closed in February and the estimated cost of not only the refurbishment but also their loss of business could reach nearly £500,000.

Sisters and co-owners Lyn Presence and Wendy Attwood said they have been "overwhelmed" by support from the local community and said they were "thrilled" to be open again.

Mrs Attwood said: "The opening day was exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.

"Our first week open has been great. Despite the sun shining, which would normally dictate a very quiet centre we have been moderately busy every day. It’s great to see our regulars back and also great to see so many new faces who are trying PP for the first time. Our party bookings are rolling back in and we are all settling back onto our routine."

During the refurbishment, the play centre created a wall of inspiration for children to contribute drawings.

PJ, aged six, was announced as the winner was announced at the opening last week, with a picture and poem.
