More than 100 people turned up to the Rickmansworth Horticultural Society’s Spring Flower Show at the weekend.

It was has been called a very "impressive" turnout by the chairman of the society, Vic Hind, people flocked to the event which was held in St Mary's Church Centre, in Church Street, on Saturday between 2pm and 5pm.

The horticultural society, which was started in 1936, has about 550 members.

Three Rivers District Council chairman, Les Mead, distributed the awards. Mr Hind won the Dawe Cup for best in the floral class, with a display of daffodils and tulips.

Lily Gowing received the Pinney Cup for best in decorative class, Elsie Boichat was commended in the novice’s class and Celia Butterfield was given a special trophy for coming first in the domestic class.

Mavis Starling won the Yvonne Gibson Cup for best exhibit in handicraft and other awards were also presented to Andrew Rogers and Christine Cory.
