Watford Mencap Children’s Centre received a special Easter treat, courtesy of a local gym.

Marcus Earnshaw, owner of Energie Fitness for Women in Watford, has been holding an Easter Egg amnesty over the past few weeks, asking gym members and staff to bring in an Easter egg which were this week donated to the centre.

Watford Mencap community fundraiser Liz Hizli said: "The children are absolutely delighted. We are most grateful to Marcus and his team and gym members for their support, and we are looking forward to seeing him again at The Watford 10k Charity Run with his team of masseurs to treat the runners to a well-deserved massage after completing the course."

The Watford 10k takes place in Cassiobury Park on bank holiday Monday, May 5, with all proceeds going to Watford Round Table and Watford Mencap.

Runners of all abilities are invited to take part, with additional races taking place for younger athletes.

Places are still available for runners to take part, and can be booked online at http://www.watford10k.org.uk/
