A person had to be rescued from a Rickmansworth underpass this afternoon after their mobility scooter became stuck in two feet of water.

Hertfordshire Constabulary was called to the High Street underpass, at the junction with Station Road, at about 1.10pm after receiving reports that a person was stranded in the flood.

Paramedics were also called to the scene but were not needed upon arrival. Police have taped off the area.

Hertfordshire County Council engineers are on the scene and investigating the cause of the flood, which is believed to have been caused by a fault in a pump.
