Police break into house to rescue South Oxhey woman from fire
A woman was taken to hospital following a house fire in South Oxhey this morning.
Three fire engines, police and paramedics were called to the ground floor fire in Prestwick Road at about 10am.
Hertfordshire Constabulary officers broke into the terrace house to help residents escape the fire.
Daniel Atkinson, spokesman for the force, said: "Police we called to an address in Prestwick Road, South Oxhey at 10am today after there were reports of a concern for welfare.
"Police officers arrived at the scene and discovered smoke coming from the property. Police forced entry to the property in order to evacuate the occupants and tackle a small fire. No one was hurt during the incident, but the woman was taken to Watford Hospital."
It is believed the woman did not sustain any serious injuries.
