A charity football match featuring former Watford FC players will be held in aid of a London hospital maternity unit.

The match on Saturday, May 10, will be held at Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club.

It was organised by Chesham United's Daniel Brathwaite, former Watford FC Trainee 1998 - 2001, in memory of his son.

Mr Brathwaite will pit his own 11 against a combined Chesham United and Hemel Hempstead Town 11.

The match is being played to raise money for the University College Hospital Neo-natal Unit and The Butterfly Fund - the team that looked after him and his family following the premature birth of his son Maxwell William Brathwaite, who passed away shortly afterwards.

The fundraising event sees Watford legend Luther Blissett, and other former Hornets stars Steve Palmer, Micah Hyde, Elliott Godfrey, Paolo Vernazza and Allan Smart join Arsenal's Nigel Winterburn, Omer Riza (Arsenal & Trabsonspor), Darren Currie (Ipswich, Wycombe & Dagenham) and others, as part of Daniel’s team, who will take on a side of current Chesham United and Hemel Hempstead Town players.

The day will include additional activities for all the family including a penalty shoot-out, cross bar challenge, cheerleaders, face painting, speed cage, raffle, cake sales, food and music, plus Harry the Hornet will be joining the day and entertaining the crowds.

Mr Brathwaite said: "This football match is to celebrate the memory of our beautiful son and to say a massive thank you to the nurses, midwives, neonatal and bereavement teams at UCLH who cared for us so well and do such amazing work."

Tickets are £5 adults, with U16 free. For more information visit
