Pupils at Alban Wood Primary secured a new playground after a pursuasive letter writing campaign to the head teacher.
Janice Forbes, learning mentor, said: "Their valid points were considered. It would give them lots of extra exercise, it would encourage turn taking, they could have even more fun and from this a new project was formed."
A group of Key Stage 2 pupils met each fortnight during their lunchtime to discuss what apparatus would be the most appropriate, look through brochures, do costings and choose the equipment.
The equipment has now been put up and soft flooring laid underneath. Every Key Stage 2 pupil has had a go on the monkey bars or on the rope wall climber.
There have been lots of encouragement and help for those who needed support initially and lots of challenges to get across without touching the floor. Some of the staff have also risen to the challenge.
