A man from Bushey is gearing up to run 31 miles in aid of Parkinson's UK.

Mortgage consultant Marc Brenner is taking on the Grand Union Challenge in June to raise money for the charity that helped his mother.

Mr Brenner said: "My mother is a long term sufferer of Parkinson’s disease so this charity holds a very special meaning to me.

"The pain I’ll endure for 31 miles goes nowhere near what my mother and thousands of others have to endure every day. I just want to do all I can to help rid of this awful disease."

The Grand Union Challenge leads competitors along the towpaths of the Grand Union Canal.

Mr Brenner continued: "I’ve been training hard to make sure I’m ready for the challenge. I’ve even lost a stone in weight so that’s been really pleasing personally.

"I have set myself a personal challenge of raising £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK and I am hoping with the support of my friends, family and employees I can do my bit to support such a wonderful charity who still continue to search for a cure to help save lives."
