The Sri Lankan Schools Cricket Festival will go ahead at Merchant Taylors’ School in July, despite a number of conditions being placed on the event.

The application for the controversial cricket tournament was heard before Three Rivers’ licensing committee on Tuesday, April 22.

Organisers of the event, which is due to be held on July 20, received a number of complaints from Moor Park residents last year.

The district council’s licensing committee granted permission for the amended application, which will allow amplified live music to be played in the Inner Quadrangle between 2pm and 8pm.

Alcohol is allowed to be supplied between 1pm and 8pm and dancing is permitted between 1pm and 5pm.

No recorded music is allowed to be played and no public address system will be permitted unless there is an emergency.

Alcohol will be provided in plastic containers and all glass containers and the security team will consist of 50 security guards and 112 stewards

The committee heard evidence concerning noise and traffic nuisance at neighbouring homes from the same event last year.
